How it works

Mikra Notes in six steps. No account or sign-in: everything works from the first launch.

1. Write a note

Tap New Note at the bottom right of Notes and start typing. The first line is the title.

2. Type a verse and it links

Type a reference the way you would write it, such as John 3:16, then a space. It turns into a link and the verse appears just above the keyboard. Tap the preview, or the link, to read the verse and its chapter.

3. Read any passage

From Notes, type a passage such as John 10:11 into the search field and tap Read. It opens even if it is in none of your notes.

4. Record while you write

Tap the microphone above the keyboard. The first time, iPhone asks for the microphone. Recording carries on with the iPhone locked. Tap the recording to pause or stop it.

5. Read it back

After you stop, the recording appears at the bottom left of the note. Tap it for the transcript, made on your iPhone. The first one downloads Apple's speech model, which can take a minute. Tap a paragraph to hear it.

6. Find it again

Every note is kept on Notes, grouped by when it was written. Swipe a note to pin or delete it.

Good to know

The King James Version, Berean Standard Bible and World English Bible are built in and work offline. Other translations, such as the NIV and NASB, are licensed through the YouVersion Platform and need a connection.

Notes, recordings and transcripts stay on your iPhone and in your own iCloud. Questions: [email protected].
